This summer, our creative learners came in with their ideas ready. We provided the materials and some direction, but they inspired each other. In true Reggio form, a provocazione was created (a clay Pac Man head), and then a cascade of creativity ensued. No rules… only the request that we set-up, pack away, and work in harmony with one another. It was mesmerizing to witness, and a privilege to be a part of it all.
It allowed them to tap into their creativity and express themselves through art. By working with clay, students can craft a wide range of shapes, forms, and figures using their own inspiration and the inspiration of their classmates. As they worked, they were inspired by one another’s creations, leading to a collaborative and supportive atmosphere in the classroom. Clay sculpture can also be a great way for students to develop their fine motor skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
